Abdomen Guard
Cricket Abdomen Guard
In cricket, a box is an abdominal protector, worn by batsmen to protect their groin.

Boxes may be held in place by a jockstrap, or by elasticated flannels. Today, boxes are typically made from strong plastic, with a rubberised rim for comfort.

Because a cricket ball is heavy and made of hardened leather, direct impact from a ball delivered at pace (which can be more than 90 miles per hour at the highest levels of cricket) is still uncomfortable, can wind the player and can lead to a break in play. Playing without a box can lead to serious injury.
